Scar formation is a natural part of the healing process
Detailed Answer:
Hello there XXXXXXX Thanks for coming to HealthCareMagic. Let me see if i can give you some basic information and put your anxiety to rest.
Firstly, I'm sorry to hear about your injury. I am glad that the scar is extent of your injury and nothing worse. I've looked at both of the pictures you've uploaded and i believe that the injury is healing well without any signs of infection.
Now, as to the scar, lets start by trying to understand the bodies healing process. Anytime there is a trauma to a connective tissue like the skin, the body tries to seal up the injury quickly so as to prevent infection. The fastest way to seal up such an injury is to form a scar. But remember, a scar is just a covering, beneath the scar tissue, healthy and normal looking skin is developing. Its Just that that normal tissue is much slower growing and the scar forms a protective water tight layer above it.
The net effect of this process is that over time, your scar should fade away and become unnoticeable. As the healthy skin grows, he scar / scab should begin peeling away. The process can take several months in some cases. There are some genetic factors which make some people form scars more quickly and fade more slowly than others, but there's nothing we can do to change that, so lets not dwell upon it.
You can do a few basic things to make sure that that scar fades a bit more quickly, I shall list them below,
1) Maintain a healthy diet and make sure you are getting a good amount of Vitamin B. Vitamin B will help make sure the healthy skin grows at it's optimal rate. If you are vitamin B deficient, then it may be prudent to take a supplement to overcome that deficiency.
2) Keep the area clean and do not pick at the scar or peel it prematurely.
3) Apply a moisturizer to the area to help prevent drying. Once daily after you bathe should be more than enough.
Try these things out and give it plenty of time. If you do so, I am very confident that the scar will fade.
I hope this helps, please let me know how I can assist you furthur. I look forward to your thoughts.
