What Are The Repercussion Of Accidental High Dosage Of Otogesic?
Question: Hi Doctor was trying to put otogesic ear drops in my babies ears at middle of night by mistake and due to lack of light the big cap opened up ... so all the content was spilled on the baby ... I don't know how much went in his ears most of it was found on his bib.... is there any serious side effect for overdose... any precautions I can take?
Brief Answer:
Not a cause for concern
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic.
The ear drops do not get systemically absorbed (into the blood stream) and the action is actually nothing but local. Hence there is no applicability of overdose. You need not worry. Just clean it off and things would be fine.
Feel free to write back in case of further queries. No precautions suggested. Just keep observing the child although I do not expect anything untoward.
