What Are The Repercussions Of Amoxicillin Overdose In A Child?
Question: Accidentally gave my 3 yr old a second dose of amoxicillin about an hour after the first dose. Any possible dangers or aide effects I should look out for?
Brief Answer:
no danger of overdose
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
You are concerned that you gave your child an early dose of amoxicillin. There is no worries here about over dose or causing harm to your child. I would recommend that you give your child their regular dose in 8 hours. The only reaction that could happen is an allergic reaction with rash and difficulty breathing but that would not be from giving the extra dose but just from taking the medication. You have nothing to worry about.
