What Are The Repercussions Of Accidental Double Dosage Of Duloxetine?

default
Posted on Tue, 6 Dec 2016
Question: What causes middle aged woman to go from perfect gastrointestinal function to having the digestive system to simply STOP working? There seems to be no muscle function. Taking fiber, exercising, and drinking water help the wastes to leave the body, but system absolutely does not work on its own. One day I had the perfect system, the next day I was forever changed. Doctors don't want to admit that taking a double dose of duloxetine (accidentally) might have caused it, but they have no desire to find out the answer. If it were their fifty year old spouse, they would want to know the answer. So either it's the overdose of duloxitene, or they would be trying to help me. A fifty year old healthy person's perfect system does not break without a reason.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking on HCM.

I read carefully all your concerns and I am sorry for the situation you are in.

1.You are reporting to have been used double dose of duloxetine accidentally?
I need to know more about this episode. When it has happened ? Dose your symptoms started immediately after it happens?
2. I notice that you are using gabapentine plus duloxitene.
This is why To my opinion may be related with :
- duloxitene side effects ( it is associated with GI disturbanec, muscular pain and dysfunction)
- gabapentine plus duloxitene has moderate interactions. The main symptoms of This interaction is related with vision, mental helath depression , nausea vomiting/diarrhea.
To my opinion you should talk with your psychiatrist to change your medications especially duloxitene with another antidepressant.

Hope it was helpful to you!

Yes. I was very ill after the overdose. And the dysfunction began in the next day and never changed and it's been nine months. Another symptom which is most recent is that I'm having long soft stools with ridges (straight edges) down the sides. This is a definite change and has been occurring for a couple of weeks. What do you think are the possible causes? Thank you very much.

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
As I wrote above , yes your symptoms may be related with side effects of duloxitene or it interaction with gabapentine.
Otherwise since you are reporting about soft stools than it is better to do culture fecal test and ova parasites test to rule out any infection.
hope it was helpful to you
