What Are The Repercussions Of Swallowing A Jagged Mercury Filling?
ed mercury filling 10 days ago. I have been thourghly checking my stools but it hasn't come out. I have diverticulosis and had a diverticulitis attack in March. If it is lodged etc. would i have some symptoms by now. I have been fine, but I just went to the bathroom and there were 2 slimy balls in the stool. I haven't had slim. I am really upset, could that cause the slim. again should I have symptoms, seeing it's been 10,days and would the slim be a symptom? or should I just relax and forget about it.?
I feel there is nothing to worry about since it has been 10 days or more :)

Hello ma'am and welcome.
Thank you for writing to us.
I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. If it has been 10 days since you swallowed the filling you should really not worry about it anymore.
Diverticulosis is a very sensitive condition, and if at all there were anything to get lodged into the diverticula then you would almost immediately experience an episode of diverticulitis for sure. As it has been 10 days (which is more than enough for the fillings to pass out); if at all it were still inside your colon it could only be because it has been lodged, and if it were lodged it should have caused an episode of diverticulitis by now.
So in my opinion you have nothing to worry about, please rest assured and forget about it completely. I hope you find my response helpful. Please also feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.
Best wishes.
Lets wait for another 7 days and observe your stool in the meantime :)

Hello once again ma'am.
Diverticulosis is a chronic condition, which I am sure you are aware of. It does result in episodes when aggravated, but a few symptoms of the condition can persist even during the absence of an episode, and mucus (slim as you put it) is one such symptom. Mucus in the stool is seen with many conditions of the large intestine like diverticulosis, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, and so on.
So the slim could just be due to the fact that you do in fact have diverticulosis; but yes, stress is a large contributing factor. Some medications can cause an aggravation as well, but usually anaesthesia is not one of them, and I am unaware of any other medications you were on. But suffice to say that the stress itself is quite sufficient to cause this.
10 days is more than enough for the filling to have exited your body, but let us wait for a week more and then take it from there. But it couldn't have survived for 10 days inside you, so I somehow feel it might already be out. Either way, lets wait for a bit longer. :)
Best wishes.
