Question: Hi Dr., if a perscription drug expired in 2012, will it be in harmful or just inefective? Or will it stll help?

Dear XXXX, the expiration date on the medication is the last day that the manufacturer garuntees that the medication is full potent and safe to use. some drugs have an extended shelf life beyond the expiry date by an average of 6 months. since you medication was expired 5 years ago then I don't recommend to use it as it might be unsafe and ineffective.
