What Are The Repercussions Of The Accidental Ingestion Of Benzac-AC-Gel By Child?
Question: Hi,
My 10 month old baby accidentally swallowed little bit of benzac Ac gel. She was biting an empty ointment tube. It was washed once, but little bit remained I guess. Will it be harmful. Should I seek medical attention immediately.

Brief Answer:
Get him evaluated by a pediatrician
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Bezac AC gel contains benzoyl peroxide which is toxic when ingested. As the toxicity not only depends on the amount but also on the age and individual's metabolism,I would suggest you to get him to a physician in emergency room even if there are no symptoms.
Sometimes symptoms may take time to manifest.
In case of known or suspected poisoning a child should be kept under direct observation of a physician so that the symptoms(vomiting or abnormal movement due to CNS toxicity) if any could be detected and thus managed earliest. If child is able to take orally then give her fluids but don't induce vomiting.
Wish your baby good health
Regards
