What Are The Repercussions Of The Accidental Ingestion Of Melted Plastic?
Question: My wife made me steamed artichoke. She put this silicone plastic type steamer in a pot. The next day we noticed that the steamer was melted and severely burnt. It was cooked at high temperatures with the cover on. am I in danger for eating vaporized melted plastic that may be cooked into the artichoke?
Brief Answer:
No, Don't worry much
Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir, you are in no serious issue. Just leave it. If that happens, you will easily notice it while eating. Now just forget it and stay cool. You are in no danger.

Hi yes but I ate it, it tasted burned but I still ate it without thinking anything about it. Isn't that equivalent to eating melted silicon/plastic vapors? It's not like I noticed it I actually ate the artichokes, both of them and it was steaming for hours in a plastic steamer that was melting and burning inside of a closed pot. From what I read online it looks like I inhaled a ton of plastic contaminants that are very carcinogenic
Brief Answer:
No danger is there in your case.
Detailed Answer:
Don't worry sir, the amount is not so high as you say. And such amounts doesn't do anything practically. In fact there are many forms usually used in food also. Only chronically using causes the risk. In your case.its ingestion not inhalation.
Just leave it. Forget it. What happened in your case is not dangerous.
Hope this helps you.
Thank you
