What Are The Side Effects Of Aciphex?
What is it being used for?
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about these difficulties you have getting off this medication. If the condition for which you were put on this medication has not been addressed, It would become very difficult to get off it. For instance, if it is acid reflux because of an incompetent stomach closure, this would need to be addressed before you can safely get off this drug. I will suggest that you talk to a gastroenterologist to understand the reasons of this drug, address the underlying conditions and address it before trying to get you off this medication.
Having been on this drug for so long, I will suggest that you go ahead and get your bones evaluated for osteoporosis. Also, If you are not on calcium and vitamin D supplements, please consider getting on them. Regular exercise and healthy diet, no smoking, minimal alcohol and fruits/vegetables would be of great added value.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
I have several doctors none of whom are able to answer my question and this
includes Mayo Clinic where the surgery was done in 1997.
Definitely, the valve is not doing a perfect job!
Detailed Answer:
I strongly think that this valve is not able to assure 100% perfect functioning.
I will like you to request that they repeat a PH monitoring for acid reflux to see if the surgery corrected the defect fully. Until they rule this out through objective testing, I will not think the claim of a perfectly functioning valve is valid at this time. If that be the case,, then they should provide answers a to why you cannot get off this medication and present with similar symptoms of acid refllux each time you try to.
Keep me posted about this.
