What Are The Side Effects Of Bydureon?

default
Posted on Tue, 21 Apr 2015
Question: I took two doses of Bydureon in December and ended up in the ER with hives everywhere. I started Farxiga in Feb. and now have hives that pop up randomly, on back of neck then disappear and show up on my wrists then back on my neck. I stopped the Farxiga a week ago and today hives showed back up on my neck. All along I have been taking Insulin. Could I really be allergic to my insulin (I've taken it for 3years)?

Brief Answer:
Not likely due to these meds, needs correlation

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Bydureon has shown shown post marketing reports of allergies and hypersensitivities but these are mostly injection site pruritis. Also farxiga can result in allergies.

here is the catchpoint. You have been using it for 3 years so why now. That is never the case with allergies. So these sudden popping on hives on back of the neck or wrist is least likely a correlation with these medications and if these ever cause such reaction those are mostly at injection sites and not any where else. This could be some other etiology. Needs correlation by a dermatologist for that.

Also these are not insulins. These are just glucose transport helping anti diabetic medications. Insulins are different. You may switch to insulin if the glycemic status is not achieved perfectly.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
