What Are The Side Effects Of I-pill?
No side effects on fetus
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for posting in HCM.
It is unusual that even after taking I pill within 48-72 hrs that pregnancy has occurred. But if you have taken it late then it won’t be effective and pregnancy can occur.
Anyway as your question is about the side effects of the pill on fetus I will talk about that.
I pill is a tablet which contains only hormones in a fixed dosages which are even produced by your body normally which are estrogen and progesterone.
It usually causes prevention of pregnancy by making changes to uterine walls and rendering it unfavorable for implantation of zygote.
So as it does not contain any unusual drug or anything unnatural there won't be any ill effects to the fetus by this tablet.
Do not worry about it. No side effects for the fetus because of the pill.
I hope I have answered your query well. if you have any more query kindly write back to me will be happy to answer them.
Thank you
how much were you taking till now?
Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
Thanks for following up.
First things first, as pregnancy is confirmed you should get it registered with your nearby hospital or your gynecologist. It is only because the concerned doctor can monitor your progress through the entire pregnancy and keep a watch over it.
As you must be very early in pregnancy you should be avoiding almost all medications you were taking before. Few of medications like paracetamol for simple ailments like headache or bodyache or cetrizine for cold can be taken. Otherwise you are not supposed to take any medications without consulting your doctor as it can have deleterious effects on fetus.
If by chance you are smoking or drinking alcohol it should be stopped totally for the same above reasons.
Eating healthy diet, moderate amount of sleep, moderate exercises and most importantly a healthy and cheerful state of mind is very important for baby's good development.
As you mentioned you are hypothyroid and TSH was 6.7 4 months back I would like to know how much dosage of thyroxine you were taking?
As pregnancy will increase usage of thyroxine hormone more, there is a possibility of TSH going higher and you might require higher dose of thyroxine as compared to before.
I would advice you here to get a fresh thyroid profile study done now and change dosage according to the new values. You can tell the reports to me or your doctor for the new adjusted dosage.
If you want to know the disage and adjustment in your current thyroxine medication now you can reply me with the thyroxine dose you were taking or more preferably it can be adjusted after your new result comes. A delay of 2-3 days will not have any ill effect immediately.
Waiting for your reply. Any more queries are welcome.
Thank you
Titrate according to the new report
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
So you are hypothyroid since 10 years and on medications since long time. And I suppose your dose was reduced from 100mcg to 75 mcg 4 months back.
There are 2 variables here.
1. If you do fresh thyroid study and find that your TSH values have come down to within normal ranges then considering your current pregnant state the dosage of 75 mcg should be continued.
2. If the fresh report shows similar TSH or raised values of TSH than the previous one, then you might need to go back to your 100 mcg dose or even 125 mcg considering increased need during pregnancy of thyroxine.
I will really advice you to do a fresh study and titre the dose according to the recent report. As its already 4 months since last report there are chances of change in the values. We normally repeat thyroid study every 3 months of hypothyroid patients to see medication response.
You can get back to me with the recent reports as and when you get it done I will surely help you out with the dosage.
But as of now advisable to continue with 75 mcg dose until your next report.
Hope it satisfied your query. Will help if you have any more questions.
Thank you
