What Are The Side Effects Of I-pill?

Question: Hello doctor, my gf and i had sex. I used condom but i am not sure that sperm has leaked. My gf is afraid of pregnancy. Please suggest me something to avoid pregnancy. If she takes i pill what are the side effects. She has not taken i pill yet in her life. Her age is 28. Is it safe to take i pill?

Hello and welcome to HCM. thanks for writing in to is. I understand your concerns regarding the issue. She can rake ipill of intercouse happened with in last 72 hrs. Ipill can cause irregular periods and cramps. Burt these side effects are tolerable . So if you suspect condom leakage then she should take ipill to prevent pregnancy. Thank you doctor, She is now suffering from fever. Can she take ipill now? And after how many days she will get her periods? She has irregular periods and her last period was on 5th April 2016

Yes she can take it. Since she already has irregular periods and ipill also deranged periods so next date cannot be predicted.
But do a pregnancy test after fifteen days from today.
If test is negative then nothing to worry and just wait for her periods.

I guess... No need of pregnancy test if she takes ipill within 72 hrs.. What are the chances of pregnancy after taking ipill within 72 hrs?

Chances of pregnancy are less than 5% after ipill intake within stipulated time. But doing a simple test will. give you a lot of relief from anxiety as she has irregular cycles so expected date of menses is very vague in her case
