What Are The Side Effects Of L-tyrosine?

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Jul 2015
Question: I am having l-tyrosine. I've found it to be very good at making me more perked and ready to talk. There dosen't seem to be many problems with taking it, from what i've read, although i noticed if you have cancer (which I don't), then it shouldn't be taken? Why is this, should you be worried about taking l-tyrosine? What about if you had cancer and didn't know?
Please advise this.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
tyrosine may makes cells grow faster

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
For the most part L-tyrosine is safe when used as indicated. Very high doses are not a good idea, but at recommended doses it is usually very safe.
It is not good to use it if you have cancer because the last thing you want is to increase the growth of already rapidly growing cancer cells.
To answer your second question, if you had cancer and did not know it, then this could make the unknown cancer grow more rapidly.
If you think it is helping you and you are taking recommended doses then you probably do not need to worry.

Thanks for your reply. What dose do you recommend I take and any other supplements to take with it to prevent cancer risks? As you say it seems safe I'm 170 lbs roughly so you can recommend the dose. Is 1 gram ok?

Brief Answer:
one gram is fine

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Yes the standard recommended dose is 1gram (1000mg) daily. I usually recommend that people take a multivitamin/multimineral supplement along with one 500 mg vitamin C and one 1gram fish oil supplement daily. The vitamin C and fish oil are both antioxidants and can give all of us a health boost.
I wish you well and let me know if you have further questions.
