What Are The Side Effects Of Opsumit?
Question: I have been prescribed Opsumit for PAH. I had anemia for 40 years, did the iron, iron shots and then blood transfusions. Eleven years after that I had ITP and finally had my spleen removed to get this problem in order. In addition, I have suffered with pneumonia about a dozen times and been hospitalized with it 4 to 5 times (including ICU.) I have had numerous blood clots and am on Eloquis, and some pain meds for other problems. Looking at some of the possible side effects of the Opsumit I am leery of beginning this drug. I have a new physician who I am not as comfortable with his listening to my history and problems with negative reactions to some diuretics. By the way I have a major problem with water retention in the legs, feet and abdomen - I have gained 55 pounds in the last 8 months. Just looking for a fresh view.
I forgot to mention I am on oxygen full time since being hospitalized last May with pneumonia again. I am so used to it, I forgot about it. Thank you.

But it has the propensity to cause anemia and in few cases upper respiratory tract infection.
Since you earlier had anemia and iron shots/blood transfusions, there is a risk of developing the same with this drug on.
