Question: I am addicted to percocette. I take ten 10/325. a day. It is given to me from my GP.I get check ups every three months blood etc. I'm in great health. I take it for disc disease and arthritis that is impinging on my neck discs and touching my spinal cord. I've tried all the other pain control from a pain specialist but nothing helped. What and how do I keep the pain in control and the addiction out of my head, thanks XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for writing through HCM.

I have read your query and understood your concerns.

Percocet contains acetamenophen and oxycodone. Oxycodone is a opioid pain killer, so there are high chances of becoming addicted to it. If you are taking percocet daily since long time then you might have became addicted to it already.

I can only advice you that you should not take percocet regularly. Whenever you have severe pain, that is not controllable with other pain killers [non-opioids] then only you can take percocet.

For pain in neck due to disc bulging and compression of nerves of spinal cord, there can be surgical solution also. This needs to be confirmed by visiting orthopaedic doctor. Take a visit to physiotherapist and learn some exercises to strengthen neck muscles, so that pain can be less.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have further query then I shall be happy to help.
Wish you good health.
