Brief Answer:
Lip swelling can indicate an allergic reaction.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

If your lips are swelling, I would advise you discontinue the antibiotic immediately. If you are taking it for an infection that will not resolve without an antibiotic, call your doctor to get a different antibiotic. If it was for an uncomplicated UTI, you may want to just use cranberry juice and no antibiotic.

Take Benadryl 50 mg every 4-6 hours to treat what is likely an allergic reaction. If this doesn't help, or if you are getting worse, such as difficulty breathing or swallowing, go to the ER where they will give you epinephrine and possibly a corticosteroid.

And for the future, let your doctor's office know of this reaction so that they can write it in your chart.
