Brief Answer:
Yes, it could be related.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:
1. Tamsulosin is known to cause postural hypotension, which can result in unsteadiness and loss of balance. This is very commonly seen.
2. It is also known to cause back pain as an adverse effect. This is rare but seen.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.

Could you tell me if there is another type of medication to counter my enlarged prostate which does not have the adverse effects of Tamulosin ,and could it be prescribed under the National Health?I was prescribed a different medication for the problem whilst in Australia but cannot remember the name.Paying for it privately I only remember that it was rather pricey.
Many thanks XXXXXXX XXXX

Brief Answer:
It could be alfuzosin.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX XXXX,
Thanks for asking again.
It could be Alfuzosin - if its is, it will cause further excessive hypotension and usually at your age, is necessary to avoid. If you want, you can try Alfuzosin SR, but make sure you do not change your position rapidly. Eg: From sitting to standing or sleeping to sitting or standing, etc.
Other than this, there are medications to avoid further prostate enlargement. Finasteride or duasteride - Not necessary for you now, as symptoms are well in control with tamsulosin.
Hope it helps.
