Unfortunately there is no much to do about drowsiness caused by Levetiracetam as a side effect, besides reducing the dose at the lowest level possible.

Your mother's body should adapt gradually to Levetiracetam use.

Also, staying good hydrated, use of caffeine in form of drinks should help in a certain degree.

If drowsiness interfere with your mother abilities to work, drive etc. other drugs to control seizures that don't cause extreme sleepiness ( valproate, Oxcarbazepine etc.) should be considered.
