What Are The Side Effects Of Epidural Steroid Injections?
Question: is there a problem getting an epidural injection if you already have fluid behind the ear you are treating?
Brief Answer:
that's a bit of a stretch.
Detailed Answer:
I'm not exactly sure where the epidural might be placed, but it has to be at least nearly a foot from the ear (cervical) or several feet away. Infection from an ear is not going to get involved with an area that far away in any case. Fluid in the ear often isn't even due to infection with bacteria but due to inflammation from viral infection, allergy, etc. These are not going to interact with an epidural.
Side effects of a minor nature (bruise) are quite common with an epidural. More serious ones (CSF leak) are not that common and are more of an annoyance. Serious side effects from it are truly rare.
