Dear Dr Kakkar, Really I have so delighted with your reply.
Is it required to take any medicine after Hair Transplantation? Due to those medicines any side effects will be there? Or any suggestions by you on Hair transplantation surgery?

Brief Answer:
You may be required to use topical Minoxidil and take Oral finasteride
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Your doctor may ask you to use topical Minoxidil 5% after hair transplantation surgery, once daily or alternate day.
You may also be asked to take once daily Oral Finasteride for the rest of your life.
These oral and topical medications are basically to arrest further progression of hair loss. Both of these are US FDA approved for hair loss in males.
Minoxidil is absolutely safe.
Finasteride is safe too.
Only 1-2 % of patients may complain of sexual side effects while on treatment with finasteride.
However, this side effect of finasteride is temporary and on continued treatment most of the patients no longer would complain about this side effect.
Hair transplantation is the most effective treatment for androgenetic alopecia with long lasting results.
It is the best option for those whose hair fall has progressed to a stage where it may not reverse on medications.
