What Are The Side Effects Of Long Term Intake Of Alprazolam?
it is addictive
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr. XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing to us.
Alprax (Alprazolam) is benzodiazepine group of drug. It must be used under strict medical supervision otherwise it can cause tolerance, severe dependence and chances of abuse become higher.
Person will not get the same effects with same dose after few weeks so sometime person himself/herself increases the dose. Continuous use causes severe dependence which may lead to cognitive disturbance and in long run dementia. Other side effects are depression, headache, dry mouth, constipation and withdrawal symptoms. If person takes this drug for more than 6 weeks and stops cold turkey it leads to withdrawal symptoms and severity of the same depends on the dose and duration of use.
It is better to use alprax under medical supervision specially by psychiatrist's supervision otherwise clonaepamm is good option. And always stop alprax gradully to avoid the withdrawal symptoms (like tremors, anxiety, seizure, sleep disturbance).
Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
