This is a surgery which requires a very extensive planning. The execution part is relatively simpler but pre operative assessments are very elaborate and depending upon the age of patients,especially for younger group the issue is not only proper alignment but maintaining normal vision is a lot of challange for both health care staff as well as parents.
Surgical planning to prevent later side effects is to aim at two functions one is vision and other is alignment. What is important to ascertain is weather eye exercises are to be done (for mmaintaining good vision)before surgery or after survery.
What we do in our practice is to achieve good vision,then go ahead with surgery if needed.
