Brief Answer:
Information on Peyronie's Disease

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

I am not sure what you would like to know about Peyronie's Disease as there was no history or question detailed nor what you already know about it. So I will give you general information about it.

The curvature or bend in this situation is often caused by small traumas to the penis that result in scar tissue which causes the bending. The trauma can be from sexual activity, athletic/sports activity, injuries, but it isn't always known what causes it, especially when it comes on gradually. The risk of developing Peyronie's increases with age.

Sometimes the curvature can go away on it's own but most of the time it remains or gets worse. It's not always an issue unless the curve is so great that it interferes with sexual activity or causes pain.

So - about treatment: There is a medicine that can be used called Xiaflex, but criteria for using it is that there is a palpable lump in the curvature, and that the curve angle be greater than 30 degrees. The treatment involves a series of injections with this medication.

There are also different surgical techniques, including implants. Surgery is not recommended during the period of time that there is inflammation that is causing the bend such as if an injury recently happened.

If Peyronie's disease is effecting your sexual function or causing you pain, the type of doctor you will want to consult with is a urologist.

I hope this information is what you were looking for.
