What Are The Signs And Symptoms Of Male Breast Cancer?
Question: Hi, Probably a silly question but I get a bit paranoid about my XXXXXXX My question is regards to male breast cancer.
Bare with me here...
My wife had her routine mammogram about 5 weeks ago and needed to go back to get something double checked (it turns out she is fine). I was worried for her and was researching online and saw that men can get breast cancer too. I checked myself and got a bit worried as I wasn't sure what I was feeling, as there was muscles, nodulely type of flesh etc. Anyway I was due my yearly health check and mentioned it to my Dr who examined me and said I was fine but maybe had a little cyst and sent me to an ultra sound for my piece of mind. The ultra sound showed that there was actually nothing there at all and when I asked the radiologist he said that maybe she just felt the structure of the breast that can be a bit noduley (forgot exactly but words to that effect).
I had forgotten all about it until scratching around that area last night (more towards my shoulder and outskirts of my breast - a little flabby there) and "thought" I felt a tiny bump (pimple or somthing) but when feeling again i couldn't find it and as I prodded more just kept feeling what think was similar to what I had felt before, like a muscle, ligament or something (if you press firmly you can feel lots of structures) and wasn't really close to my actual breast so to speak, more around the crease of my shoulder and breast. I did examine gently around more the breast area and really can't feel anything. But the anxiety kicks in...
So my question is:
1. I know I'm being a little crazy, but as I had a scan about 5-6 weeks ago and there was absolutely nothing there, I guess nothing bad is going to suddenly be there now that I could feel in that time frame, correct?
2. And realistically should I even bother about checking myself there (like checking my testicles)? The radiologist said don't bother as it is so rare and there are plenty of other things to worry about. I don't ever hear about any guy friends ever doing that.
Thx in advance for your help.

Brief Answer:
Hello dear. You are perfectly fine
Detailed Answer:
First of all, do not worry. As you have already been examined and an Ultrasonography done recently, everything is fine. More over male breast cancer is a very rare disease. We see a single case in male after seeing around 100 to 110 cases in females. Also if it occurs in males, they have a strong family history behind that.
So do not worry. There are also no guidelines to go for routine checkup for breast cancer in males as it is a rare disease.
Thanks and regards

Thank you very much for your response and understanding. So the ultrsound was recent enough to exclude any possibility of something bad all of a sudden appearing? And to really just forget about it from a self examination point of view?
Brief Answer:
Hello. yes is it sufficient
Detailed Answer:
hello dear. Even a clinical examination was sufficient. There was no need of an USG. But since you have done it and it is also normal..nothing to worry.
Thanks
