Then depending upon immune status patients remain normal for up to about10 years. When immune system of person becomes compromised and patients develop weight loss, chronic diarrhoea, night sweats, skin problems and recurrent infections which are life threatening. Then depending on CD4 counts antiretroviral treatment is started and measures are taken to prevent infections.
