You want to know symptons of HIV in early phase of infection the people who are infected with HIV experience a short, flu-like illness is seen for about 2-6 weeks after infection. These symptoms are overlapping with common viral infectiins so goes unnoticed and undetected. After this, HIV often causes no symptoms for several years. The flu-like illnesssymptoms fever, sore throat, body rash
Other symptoms are lethargy, pain in muscles and joints and enlarged lymph swollen nodes. At this time HIV PCR can confirm the diagnosis with fourth generation ELISA. Then depending upon immune status patients remain normal for up to about10 years. When immune system of person becomes compromised and patients develop weight loss, chronic diarrhoea, night sweats, skin problems and recurrent infections which are life threatening. Then depending on CD4 counts antiretroviral treatment is started and measures are taken to prevent infections. As your case you can go to a voluntary counselling center and get tested for HIV status by serological antigen and antibodies test.
