what are the more common symptoms youll see and how long would they last
Brief Answer:
Please see description
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thank you for the followup query. Most common symptoms of HIV invlude:
- swollen lymph glands.
- unusual lesions on the tongue; skin rashes and bumps.
- nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
- cough or shortness of breath.
- chronic fatigue.
- fever, chills, and night sweats.
- rapid weight loss.
- blurred or distorted vision.
The symptoms may last a week or two and then completely go away as the virus goes into a non-symptomatic stage. After the first period, the immune system loses the battle with HIV and symptoms go away. HIV infection goes into its second stage, which can be a long period without symptoms, called the asymptomatic or latent period. This is when people may not know they are infected and can pass HIV on to others. This period can last 10 or more years.
Thank You

ive had most of these symptoms what is the fastest method of testing , i have no reason to believe i have this other then when the symptoms started i googled it
Brief Answer:
Please see details
Detailed Answer:
Hello
There is possibility that your symptoms are due to viral flu and stress/anxiety is exaggerating them. You can get tested for personal satisfaction. Following are the methods:
1. OraQuick In-Home HIV Test:
It provides rapid results in the home. The testing procedure involves swabbing your mouth for an oral fluid sample and using a kit to test it. Results are available in 20 minutes.
2. Western blot or indirect immunofluorescence assay:
It is performed in the lab by taking blood sample or body fluids(except saliva) and has diagnostic accuracy.
3. Antibody differentiation tests, which distinguishes HIV-1 from HIV-2 antibodies
I would suggest you to visit a tertiary care hospital and get yourself tested for confirmation.
Thank You

i have some mucus in my stool , could this be a symptom
Brief Answer:
Unlikely to be related to HIV
Detailed Answer:
Hello
As i mentioned in my last reply, its unlikely to be related to HIV. Mucus in stool is due to gastrointestinal problem. Most common causes includes Crohn's disease, cystic fibrosis, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, intestinal infection & malabsorption issues. If there is persistent problem of mucus in stool then it would be better to get a stool examination done.
