What Are The Symptoms Of Asthma?
Question: I have acid reflux and I am on medicine : Sompraz.
However I feel tightness in the chest at times and difficulty breathing.
There is cough as well and sore throat with phlegm.
Should I consider meeting Pulmanlogist in person or are these symptoms of GERD itself.
I smoke once a week (1 Cigeratte per week) and occasional drinker.

Brief Answer:
Better to get done PFT to rule out asthma.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
In my opinion you should consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system.
2. PFT ( pulmonary function test ).
GERD is a risk factor for asthma.
And cough with phlegm , chest tightness and difficulty in breathing can be early symptoms of asthma.
So better to diagnose asthma at present.
If your PFT is normal then no need to worry for asthma.
But smoking cessation and control of GERD are needed to prevent asthma in future.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
