What Are The Symptoms Of Depression And Schizophrenia?

Question: Hello doctor,
I got married in November 2009, life was perfect till that time. On 3rd day of my marriage my wife was not able to wake up in morning. I tried to wake her up by shaking her and putting water on her and tried for 3 hrs but she was not responding at all. Eventually we called her family doctor which is her relative and he told us it is due to stress but however we could not digest that point and he gave etizolam and escitalopramside tablets.
After that she always used to think negative about life that she will die one day and when she got angered always used to talk that this is her last night and she will die. She used to get angered over silliest thing and would last for hours. Any try from my side to calm her would fail. But I had lot of love and affection towards her. When she got angered she would talk irrelative things. She was out of control in anger. All family members were disturbed on both side and one day she ran away from my house on street and I chased her for 40 mins after that she went to her parents home. After that we demanded her parents that we sense that there is some psychological problem with her and we need to consult psychatrist but her parents did not agreed. They told that they will not visit doctor at any cost and due to that I got divorced. It happened in 2011. I wanted to know based on history provided and her doctors action by prescribing SSRI and her parents not allowing her to be taken to doctor, can it be assumed that her parents already knew of her depression/schizophrenia.

Also I got very depressed with all those episodes in my life. I do not feel easy. I feel my pulse rate is high and always feel uneasy inside especially on my heart side. I sometimes used to consume avil tablet for sleep and to feel easy. It gave me immense relief.

I want to get all over these. Kindly suggest way for that still I feel disturbed and uneasy. Also unable to decide that decision taken by me for divorce was correct or not.

Hello
Thanks for choosing wwwhealthcaremagic
I am sorry to learn about you misfortune. Psychiatric illnesses still carry taboo , despite tall claims of progress or per capita income etc. This is not only present in XXXXXXX but is a global problem so people hide mental illnesses and even epilepsy. so her family members might be aware of the illness.
Secondly, it could be her first episode but visiting a psychiatrist is a taboo in many communities, esp in educated urban and high income group. it is very. unfortunate that her family members didn't consult a psychiatrist because otherwise, you could have helped her in getting rid of illness where as divorce adds to stressors , causing recovery longer, more difficult and incomplete.
Now you should accept reality, have no guilt because it was not you fault .Try and move forward in life.
Good Luck

I wanted to know that can a regular physician prescribe etizolam & escitalopram tablet only based on 3 hrs symptoms of not waking up which he claimed is due to stress. What is purpose of these tablets? Why are they prescribed?

She regularly got used to wake up late. It always took me about 20 minutes each day to wake her up by constantly calling her name and shaking her. She also got very violent when she was angry.

These things of past is running in my head continuously. Nowadays I myself feel depressed. I sleep for 9 hrs in night and still feel a lot tired. I have huge responsibility of family business upon me but I am unable to cope up with my responsibility due to my current mental state.

Kindly suggest any exercise or treatment for me?

Hello
A GP can prescribe any medicine and may have adviced rest to give her a break for de stress. These tab help in anxiety. She probably had some mood problems but I can not comment on how severe it was. You seem to be having a lot of anxiety. It is difficult to prescribe medicine . you need to talk to me in detail, only then I can suggest some medicine.
