What Are The Symptoms Of Fracture?

default
Posted on Mon, 18 May 2015
Question: I dropped a full suitcase on my foot three weeks ago. It was fine at first, only a little sore. For the last week or so I now have pain on the side of my foot up to my pinky toe and it's sore to the touch but just a bit of swelling. It aches a bit but gets really sore after I walk on it. Any clue?

Brief Answer:
X-ray should be done to rule fracture out.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Fracture is the first thing to be ruled out. Please note that some fractures can give no symptoms or symptoms can be only minor. Depending of the fracture location and bones dislocation, you may have no symptoms at all.
Long healing or worsening is one of possible fracture symptoms. That is why x-ray should be done at first to have it clear.
If no fracture will be present, inflammation due to injury seems most probable. In such case you should consult orthopedist. The treatment is usually based on resting and taking antiinflammatory medicines.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
