Brief Answer:
About IBS

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome can range widely, but in general, there is either recurring constipation, or diarrhea, or both, and intestinal colic/cramps.

The things is, a number of other disorders can present with these symptoms too, and so these need to be ruled out before chalking it up to IBS, which is a disorder that is not fully understood.

Some of the things that can present with similar symptoms are dairy intolerances, gluten intolerances and Celiac disease (which there is a blood test for), food allergies, gastrointestinal infections, and inflammatory bowel disease. Gastrointestinal microorganism imbalances, such as after antibiotics, can give these symptoms too.

There are medications that can help IBS.

But IBS should not be diagnosed without making sure it is not a different problem.

I hope this information helps.
