Posted on Thu, 7 May 2015
Question: I had a miscarriage about 3weeks ago with bleeding and cramping which went on for two weeks. A week ago it stopped and since yesterday I have been cramping and bleeding started back up today. Is this still part of the miscarriage?

Hello dear,

Thanks for trusting us about your health care.

I can understand your concern here.

I have gone through your history and before giving my opinion about it I want to ask a few questions from you.

How many weeks you were pregnant when you had a misscarriage?

Misscarriage was spontaneous or you required drug or surgical procedure?

Can you upload your ultrasound and hcg reports?

Now bleeding and pain is increasing in amount?

Are you taking any medication for it?.

Please revert back to me with my answers.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Regards.

I thought I was about 6 weeks when I miscarried. It was spontaneous and have not been prescribed any medication. Bleeding had gone for two weeks then stopped for 5days and now I had bright red bleeding this morning accompanied by period like cramping in my lower abdomen. Neither the pain or bleeding have gotten any heavier. I has gone to the ER when I first noticed the bleeding 3weeks ago. They tested my hcg level was 89 two days later was 67 was told I was having a miscarriage and to follow up with my obgyn in a week. I did they did another hcg which came back 52. Then two weeks later/this past Mon the 13th had another hcg and the level was 163. I can't upload any but they said they saw nothing in my ultrasound and that it looked all clear

Brief Answer:
Wait for one week.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

I can understand your concern and know how difficult for you to understand what is going on.

Please do not take any stress, and I think it is two early to comment on it.

There is a possibility of a new pregnancy ( ectopic pregnancy??or normal pregnancy) in your case.

When hcg levels are below 1100, you can not see anything in ultrasound scan.

In this case you should wait for another one week and get your repeat ultrasound scan and repeat hcg test after 2 days to see whether it is doubling or not.

As your levels are falling initially and there is no retained products of conception in ultrasound the chances of retained products are not there( the symptoms are most probably not a part of previous misscarriage).

So please wait and watch for it.

Please share your results with us.

Good luck.
Regards.
