Hi and welcome to HCm
Detailed Answer:
Recurence of thyorid cancer isnt common today, but unfortunately it can come back at any time of life, even 20 years after treatment. Follow up strategy depend son type of cancer, but usually you need to check your TSh and thyreoglobulines levels at least 3 x a year. you should also check your CEA amrker levels once a year and if there was papilary or follicular cancer then you should do radioacive iodine scan once in 2 years. there is no some specific sign of tumor relaps, but this should not make you anxious. you need to live normally and be optimistic. this is generaly one of the "best" cancers that you could have and as I said, recurence is rare and also treatable. Wish you good health. Feel free to ask. Regards
It was papillary cancer something saw something about hurtle cell but no lymph involvement. My endo scheduled me out a year so next month is the first I will see him since he put me on synthroid 150 mcg a year ago. TSH .5 total t3 6.4. Thyroglobulin <2. Thyroglobulin antibodies 1.5.
I actually had to push for the ultrasound and then the FNB that revealed the cancer...my Drs are pretty layer back. Should I request a WBS or ultrasound based on lab results and the fatigue, upper backache and weight issues.

Hi
Detailed Answer:
Your lab findings and symptoms arent indicating cancer recurence. These are nonspecific symptoms which are commonly seen in patients on synthroid. So WBS isnt necessary at this point, but ultrasound can be done more for your satisfaction.
Since there wasnt lymph node or surrounding tissue infiltration or distal metastases, then possiblity of recurence is less than 1% for papilary carcinomas.
