Brief Answer:
It is reactive brain glial cells proliferation.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The brain consists of glial cells which support the neuron. Gliosis is a reactive proliferation of glial cells in response to injury, trauma or Alzheimer's disease-like pathological brain lesion.
It is similar to scar formation that occurs in the skin following trauma.

There is no specific treatment available for gliosis.
Underlying cause-specific treatment should be the priority.
Beta-lactam antibiotics, Minocycline are some of the drugs that can prevent further gliosis formation.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Parth
