What Are The Withdrawal Effects Of 150mg Of Bupropion?
Question: I just came from my phyciatrist and he told me to stop taking the 25mg that I was taking of Bupropion HCL and start taking 15 mg of Mitazapine, I questioned stopping the Bupropion abruptly and he explained that the starting dose of Bupropion is about 150 mg and I was taking such a small amount and there would be no reaction. I am hesitant on stopping the Bupropion but I have to trust that my doctor wouldn't tell me to do something that would hurt me. Please give me your opinion.

I can understand your concern. Bupropion and Mirtazapine both are anti depressants and help to improve serotonergic neurotransmission in brain though by different mechanisms. The dose of Bupropion you are taking is very low dose and the drug is even not available commonly in such low dose strengths. So even if you stop it abruptly this would not result in withdrawal symptoms. No need to worry at all. If any mild effects will occur then Mirtazapine would take care. So no need to worry in stopping such low doses of Bupropion abruptly and starting 15 mg Mirtazapine. You will not have any withdrawal symptoms. If possible talk to your doctor and start with 7.5 mg Mirtazapine for first week and then increase the dose to 15 mg after one week. This will minimise any first dose increase in anxiety also.

I was intending on taking the Mirtazapine last night and I was just about to take it and then I remembered I had taken the Bupropion that morning by mistake so I wound not taking the Mirtazapine. I was afraid that being I had the Bupropion in my system from the morning that having the 2 antidepressents in my system would cause a problem. This morning I didn't take the 25 mg of Bupropion and I will take the Mirtazapine tonight. Did I do the right thing? Would there had been a problem if I had the 2 antidepressents in my system in a 24 hr period? Being I am not taking the Bupropion today and have no Mirtazapine in my system yet until tonight will I feel okay? Could I have taken the Mirtazapine last night and would there had been no reaction with the 2 antidepressents in my system?

Bupropion is also used as augmentation drug in many cases of depression. It is also used as second drug along with first line drugs. So even if Bupropion remain in body along with Mirtazapine there is no significant risk. You can start the Mirtazapine from today night, no need to worry.
The dose of 25 mg Bupropion is almost like nil, so no need to worry about that also. Even if you skipped the Mirtazapine last night even then no need to worry. Start from today.
