What Are These Red Painful Bumps And Small Red Itchy Spots On My Scalp?
Diagnosis: Seborrheic Dermatitis
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Given the location on the scalp and around the head, the itchy red bumps you are noticing is likely due to seborrheic dermatitis, commonly called dandruff.
You can use 2 % Ketoconazole shampoo (Nizoral shampoo) to wash the affected areas. Use the shampoo on alternate days for the first week, followed by every 3 days until the rash completely clears up (which can take up to 8 weeks).
You can also use T-sal (3% Salicylic acid shampoo) once a week along with Nizoral.
If you do not notice any improvement after the first 2 weeks, follow up with your primary provider for re-evaluating the diagnosis.
Take cetirizine 10 mg at bedtime if itching is too troublesome.
Hope this answers your question
