What Can I Do About Continuous Dry Cough In My 5-year-old With Allergies?
Question: What can I do about my 5 year old allergies? She's been coffin non stop her eyes are watery, itchy, and every time she coughs it hurts your stomach. I have giving her tea, cough drops, honey, and children benadryl, and so far none of that has helped. She been pretty sick due to her allergies for two weeks now. Is there anything I can get her or other methods I can try to make her fill better before finally just taking her to the doctors ?
Brief Answer:
Dry cough due to allergies
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Cough due to allergies is dry in nature. So it is better to moisten the airway to stop the allergic trigger. You can do it by humidifier in the room that she is sleeping. Steam may help as well.
You can give Junior Claritin (Loratidine) tablet which has Loratidine. It works better than benadryl. You can continue to give tsp of honey and ask her to suck or chew it rather than swallowing it.
These things should help otherwise you should see the doctor.
