What Can I Do About Low HCG Level At Four Weeks Of Pregnancy?
Question: Hello Doctor ! I've just found out that I'm pregnant. My LMP is 12th April, 2018. So I think I'm 4 weeks and 2 days according to LMP. My first hcg draw on 9th May was 62.3 and my hcg that was taken yesterday (48 hours apart) was 193. I feel this is such a slow increase. I read in various blogs that many women reached 2000 or 3000 hcg level by this time. Am little worried though it is doubling. Please advise.
Brief Answer:
HCG levels are low.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thanks for trusting us about your healthcare.
I have gone through your history and understand your concern.
Yes,Your hcg is on lower side but it is in normal range and doubling is also there.
You should get your pelvic ultrasound after 2 weeks for viability of the foetus and if everything is fine no need to worry about it.
Because in some healthy pregnancy also hcg on lower side.
Hope found useful, feel free to ask more information.
Good luck.

Thank you Doctor. I know a cousin who has pcos (I have it too though there are no symptoms like insulin resistance and I have somewhat regular periods) and got her progesterone level checked when she got pregnant. She says if it is not sufficient, it might lead to miscarriage. Should I also check that?? Is it really important? I'm hypothyroid too.
Brief Answer:
Yes, it is important.
Detailed Answer:

Thank you Doctor. Last Wednesday, I checked for my progesterone level and it was 18.68 ng/ml at 5 weeks. I checked with my Doctor to ask for progesterone supplements and she said it is not required now. I'm worried that my progesterone level might go down as time passes. I've heard that it was the cause of miscarriage in many women. Do I need to take those supplements?
