I think, if you are having a fear of having some sexually transmitted infection, then you should get yourself tested, if you are having one or more of the following symptoms.
-Unusual discharge from your vagina or anus
-Itchy genitals or anus
-Blisters, sores or warts around your genitals or anus
-Unusual vaginal bleeding
-Lumps or skin growth around your genitals or anus
-Pain while peeing
-Rashes in the body appearing after sexual contact
These may be just broad signs & symptoms, which you may look for. However apart from these common symptoms, there may be some other symptoms & in some cases, the infection may be even asymptomatic.
If you are experiencing one or more of the above symptoms, then further testing may be done by blood for HIV, Herpes simplex virus 1 & 2, Syphilis, Hepatitis B& C. Similarly infections of chlamydia & gonorrhea can be diagnosed by urine or swab examination. Oral & anal infections are diagnosed with more accuracy by swab test than urine.
