What Can Be Done About Chronic Indigestion And Weakness?
Question: Hello Sir, My mother is 69 with normal BP and normal Sugar.
She got operated for her knees 9 years ago.
Almost 19 years ago she got operated for her uterus & got it removed.
She has also got operated for her left eye for "safed motia".
which is all well now. However, her right eye is having "kala motia"
Now a days she has been complaining about indigestion for the last 6 months.
SHe has undergone several courses of anti-acid syrups / omaprazole type tabs.
Nothing is found in an ultra sound taken almost 2 years ago.
NOW SHE WAS FEELING VERY MUCH WEAKNESS AND I GOT HER ALL BLOOD TESTS DONE. WHICH ARE ENCLOSED.
PLEASE GIVE YOUR VALUABLE OPINION IN THE FORM OF MEDICINE / TONIC / DIET ETC....
THANKS & REGARDS.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through the details and reports. She has severe anemia. I would suggest she get a detailed examination and treatment done by a gastroenterologist. For this age having this severe anemia should be suspected of malignancy and be ruled out. She will have to test stool for occult blood, endoscopy and get MRI / CT scan done.
Meanwhile, she can take tab. Orofer XT once daily after food for 3 months. Avoid caffeinated drinks. Eat a lot of green leafy vegetables and sprouts. Tab. Supradyn is a multivitamin, taken once daily after food for 30 days.
I hope this answered your query.
Regards

Firstly Thanks for your opinion Doctor, SECONDLY, I would like to reiterate that she is now taking some tablet LIVOGEN containing folic acid for the last 2 days only. while I have also arranged to get P.B.F. of blood tested ( Peripheral blood film) I request your opinion on having a course of injections to meet this lacking, what would you suggest While the result of PBF is expected on Monday. THIRDLY, one iron supplement which my.mother had taken a long years ago was HIM-UP capsules for meeting iron deficiency would you suggest the same, can she take that in course. ALSO PLEASE describe name of the stool test to be carried on. And can a ultra sound is sufficient for the time being.? What body part should be taken under MRI..? Thanks

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
if Livogen is started you can continue that. It also contains iron and folic acid. For iron injections, Inj. Ferric Carboxymaltose is relatively safe. You can get that done, it will increase her Hb and iron stores within 3 months. Cap. Haem Up does not have folic acid. I would suggest taking Levogen.
Name of the stool test is Test for occult blood in stool. For time being you can get an endoscopy done to check for bleeding and ulcers.
I hope this answered your query.
