What Can Be Done About Emphysema Leading To Swollen Legs When One Does Not Want Medical Attention?

Question: My husband has emphazema. I believe he is in the end stage. His feet are very very swollen. He refuses to see a doctor. Any idea what the swollen feet mean?

Hello,

The swollen legs in such conditions are a bad sign of decompensation of the emphysema. You can not help him at home. He should definitely go to the hospital to get medical help which will consist of medications like Lasix. It will increase the amount of urination and thus in the improvement of the swelling of the legs.
