What Can Be Done About Recurrent UTI, Burning Sensation From The Urethra Into The Bladder Which Resumed After Completing A Course Of Moxifloxacin?

Question: have had recurring UTI, burning urethra into the bladder, usually if left untreated within 2 weeks will be difficult to sleep. have treated it with moxifloxacin 400 mg X5-7days - am experiencing connective tissue pain now and the UTI has returned. Moxifloxacin has a beneficial effect within 8 hours of first taking it but because of the issues with connective tissue, I do not dare take another course. Can you recommend another medicine that will kill the same types of UTI bacteria as those killed by fluoroquinolones?

Brief Answer:
Better to take appropriate antibiotic as per urine culture report

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .

Based on the fact that you have posted you have repeated episodes of UTI and being cured with Moxifloxacin .

The recomonded dose of Moxifloxacin is twice daily hence there is no harm in taking Moxifloxacin twice daily .

However I would suggest you to Get your routine urine test and urine culture done to find out the organisms causing this infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to.

In the mean time you can take Livofloxacin once daily and later on switch on to appropriate antibiotic as per culture report .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

I understand about getting the culture for the bacteria, unfortunately, am in a remote area of China and won't be able to get to a doctor for some time. Otherwise, I would not have gone through this site to ask this question. Levofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone and as such can and will cause permanent connective tissue damage. I am already experiencing pain from this in my hands and ankles now. Please advise if there is another antibiotic that can be used to treat the same organisms that fluoroquinolones treat?
