What Can Be Done For Aching Pain On The Bottom Of My Foot On The Pad That Is Just Below The Little Toe?

Question: Hi. After my run on Saturday, I had an aching pain on the bottom of my foot on the pad that is just below the little toe. The next morning i noticed my foot had a large bruise on the top from the little toe and metatarsal beneath it. It was no longer painful. Over the past 3 days, the bruise looks like it’s healing, but I do feel like my toe gets numb at times and even seemed pale earlier. I went to an urgent care clinc where they did x-rays and strength tests and asked a few questions, including whether I had traveled recently. I did take a 7.5 and 9 hour flight within the last 3 weeks. The doctor didn’t seem to concerned but told me to keep an eye on it and if it wasn’t improving I could do to my PCP and they could even request DVT screening. Now I am freaking out. He told me he wasn’t extremely concerned about it but now I wonder if I should just go straight to the ER.

Brief Answer:
Bruised foot on the top

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I understand your concern.

It could be of great help if you could send a photo of the bruised area (top and bottom) for me to get it further evaluated.

If X-ray did not find any evidence of broken bones, then, the appearance of the bruise is due to local trauma when running. The photo will help more to clarify this.

Furthermore, there are some details I need to know like any visible blood vessels on your legs?
Do you take any medication on regular basis like e.g. blood thinner or anything else?
If you have any lab report with you, I'd appreciate if you could send it in.

I believe doctors advised not to move your feet too much during the day, can apply the bruise cream locally, and keep the affected foot raised while laying down.

Looking forward to get the requested photos and details in.
