Brief Answer:
Probably allergic

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

A cough that is more at night and not associated with fever is most probably allergic and should respond to oral bronchodilator and antihistamine along with nebulisation. Severe cases might need a short course of steroids too.

For a more clear picture, kindly give few more details:

1. What is his age?
2. Any history of nasal allergy(recurrent sneezing/nose itching) or eye allergy(redness or watery eyes) in the past?
3. Any history of eczema in the past?
4. Any history of asthma/nose allergy/eye allergy/eczema in close relatives?
5. Any audible wheezing at night or early morning?

Kindly get back with details, so that I can guide you better

Dear Doctor,

Following are answers to your query:-

1. What is his age? Will be of 6 Yrs in XXXXXXX
2. Any history of nasal allergy(recurrent sneezing/nose itching) or eye allergy(redness or watery eyes) in the past? No
3. Any history of eczema in the past? No. But very sensitive to mosquito bites which create rashes and red small swelling develops which lasts for at least 1 day.
4. Any history of asthma/nose allergy/eye allergy/eczema in close relatives? No.
5. Any audible wheezing at night or early morning? Not as such. Can hear same when at night when he has cough, like yesterday night, I could hear wheezing sound till time he didn't vomit. After vomiting all was fine.

He had this symptom 1.5 Yrs back and docs had give him Allegra syrup. Usually at every change of season, like onset of summers or winters, my kid use to suffer due to cough and some times, he develops fever too.
But this time, he didn't have fever but there is cough.

Brief Answer:
Likely allergic

Detailed Answer:
Hi ,

After going through the details, it seems like an allergic cough.

You can try giving him nebulisation with Salbutamol solution(Asthalin respules- use one respule undiluted every 6-8 hours), along with Syrup Salbutamol (2mg/5ml) 7.5ml 3 times daily. Along with this, you can give Syrup Allegra(30mg Fexofendine/5ml) 5ml twice daily.

If good response, continue for 5 days. If not, we will need a short course of steroids, that is better given after a direct consultation with your pediatrician.

Meanwhile, avoid exposure to cold/dust.

I hope this answer will help
If you need further clarification, I will be happy to help
