What Can Cause Blood In The Urine Of A 95- Year Old Man?

Question: My 95 year old father has blood in his urine. Do I need to take him to the hospital?
Brief Answer:
yes
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Please see that there are many causes of bleeding in urine at his age as prostate problems, stone or urinary tract infection or kidney disease.
In such patients, I first of all check BP and sugar.
Next things are lab tests as HB, TLC, DLC, urine complete test, kidney tests as B urea and S creatinine.
Most important test advised by me would be an ultrasound abdomen.
If some problem as a mass in the kidney or urinary bladder detected in ultrasound then CT scan.
As all this work up has to be done so you should take your father to the emergency.
Thanks.
Take care
