Brief Answer:
May be occipital neuralgia. Require further evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.

As per your history, it may be occipital neuralgia.

Please let me know do you have injury or trauma to neck, sprain, numbness or tingling sensation over upper limbs?

For further assessment, I would suggest you to do MRI neck region with whole spine screening, nerve conduction studies, blood sugar level after detailed medical examination and spine surgeon opinion.

Till then for pain you can take tablet acetaminophen (Tylenol) 500 mg every 8 hourly. Apply diclofenac gel with heating pads locally. These medications are available over the counter.

You may require tablet gabapentin and physical therapy after consultation. Take balanced diet.

Let me know I can assist you further.... Thank you.

Regards,
Dr Shyam Kale
