What Can Cause Pain And Yellow Discharge From The Anus?

Question: Hi, I noticed sometimes when I'm walking long distances or doing excersise that my anus becomes tender and a little sore. When I get home I use a wet wipe to see if there is anything and all I can see is a yellow substance as though it has been leaking. Just wondering if this was normal :)
Brief Answer:
Possible diagnosis: Anal abscess.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Pain in the anus and yellow discharge is concerning for anal abscess, which is an infection of anal glands. Rectal examination is required to confirm the diagnosis. Management is with drainage of abscess and antibiotics. So please be advised to follow up with your primary care provider for further evaluation and management.
Meanwhile, you take a warm sits bath and take Advil for pain relief.
Hope this answers your question.
Please let me know if you need further clarification.
Regards.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I've been taking flucloxacillin 500mg for about a week for my eczema. If this was an abscess wouldn't this have gone away because of it? I also had a rectal examination the other month and he found nothing as there. I went because seemed to be a small amount of blood in my feces, but I haven't seen it since. I've also done 3 at home occult tests which have shown negative for blood. I was also changing before and noticed that it was also on my underwear, and thought that maybe if it wasn't an abscess it would give you a better idea. Thanks :)
Brief Answer:
Follow up of the answer.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Anal abscess contains anaerobic bacteria which will not be killed by flucloxacillin. You will need antibiotics that act against anaerobes like flatly. I have seen the attached picture. The yellow discharge on your undergarments definitely raises the concern for pus discharge.
Even though a rectal examination was done 1 month ago, there is still the possibility of abscess formation since then. So please follow up with your primary care provider.
Hope I have answered your query.
