What Can Cause Persistent Rectal Bleeding After Removing A Tubular Adenoma?

Question: Hello,
My name is XXXX I’m 37 years old.
10 days ago I had a colonoscopy.
It was done following slight persistent rectal bleeding. Tubular adenoma measuring 0.8 cm was removed. It was pedunculate and Dr says it was completely removed. The biopsy confirmed it was tubular adenoma with no dysplasia. Other than that everything was normal.
Now, 10 days after there’s still slight rectal bleeding.
I don’t have hemorrhoids as they were treated with injections.
The blood is very bright red and mixed with mucus. The bleeding is very slight. Why is there still bleeding?
How should I follow up.

Best regards,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Possible friction at healing site.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

* Slight bleeding post procedure of adenoma removal seems to be from erosion at healing site.
* Guidelines at present to manage

- Consume more liquids.
- Manage to have soft diet consumption with avoidance of oily, spicy, non-veg kinds of stuff.
- Discuss the need for bulk-forming laxative with your doctor as psyllium husk or others in case of hard stool.
- Do not panic at present, the current issue will be resolved within some time with internal healing.
- Keep watch on regular bleeding, in case of more blood, contact ER.

Hope I have answered your query.

Wish you fine recovery.
