What Can Cause Respiratory Infection?
Question: I've had a respiratory infection (mucus yellow/green) for 6 days. began with laryngitis, a little ear pain and nose stuffiness. coughing started after day 2. drinking lots of water but still feel very dry. might have had a slight fever but didn't have a thermometer. feels like it's still in the throat area, not further down. no pain. no shortness of breath. no gurgling or wheezing.
started amoxycillin last night (+ibuprofen & a nasal spray to stop further bloody noses). the coughing is very strong & comes on suddenly and has not abated. i want to calm the coughing but still get the phlegm up and out. need improvement asap. i'm in guadalajara, mexico, saw a pharmacy doctor but not sure of next step.

Brief Answer:
Start expectorant syrup.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through the detailed history you have given.
In my opinion, you should start aerodil expectorant syrup 10 ml thrice daily after food.
Continue nasal spray antibiotic and ibuprofen for 5 days.
Do warm water gargles and steam inhalation 4-5 times a day.
Wait for 1 week.
If not improving after 1 week then go for chest x ray PA view.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health.
Thanks.
