Question: Thank you. Our son was diagnosed with ktw at an early age. His right leg was longer than his left. For a number of years he has had skin breakdowns and persistent sores and leakage in his right foot. His growth plates in his right leg were operated on and slowed growth so that his legs are nearly the same length. He is now 25 years old still is having the same problems, which affect his ability to work consistently. He also has other medical issues, but deals with these. His physicians have limited knowledge on this and we need to provide useful information for them to effectively treat his condition over time. A part of the problem or condition is the puddling of blood in his foot which contributes to swelling, skin breakdown, bleeding and pain.

Brief Answer:
Exercise and compression stocking suggested

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Since your son is having ktw at early age and now is having blood collection in foot causing pain and swelling I would advise him to do as much exercise as possible.

I will also advise him to wear compression stocking to improve his blood supply so that his symptoms are reduced

For pain he can take tablet paracetamol 500 my twice daily for 7 days
