What Casues Sharp Pain In Throat?

YYYY@YYYY
Clinical examination and investigations are needed
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing your query. After reading your post, it seems that you might be having pharyngitis. A clinical examination by an ENT specialist will be helpful.
Following investigations may be helpful :-
1. Throat swab culture.
2 .Complete Blood Count ( CBC ).
You should do gargle with warm saline water. If the pain is severe, you can take painkiller like Ibuprofen twice daily after meals along with an antacid like Omeprazole. Avoid spicy and cold foods.
Further medical management can be planned according to the reports of the above mentioned Investigations.
I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any further query, I will be happy to help.
Regards. Thanks.

One more thing - just to be more specific, the pain I'm having is not a typical sore throat such as when I get a cold. It's a more like a throbbing/muscular pain. When I'm not swallowing I can feel it as generalized soreness in my neck. When I swallow the pain is very acute and just below my right jaw.
However, when I press there it isn't painful. It's only when I press just on the right side of my adam's apple that I can sense a very tender spot.
If this info changes your initial reply I would like to know. Thank you.
Gargling,
